The Amana Inclusive Technology Initiative, joined conversations about Africa’s AI future at Build 2026. The event occurred in Abuja, Nigeria, on October 21-22, 2026.
Build 2026 is Africa’s Shared Compute and AI Infrastructure Conference. It is hosted by the Nigeria AI Collective under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy. The event gathers government, industry, researchers and development partners to discuss Africa’s infrastructure, policy, and partnerships for a stronger AI ecosystem. It brought together government, industry, researchers and development partners to discuss the infrastructure, policy and partnerships Africa needs to strengthen its place in the global AI ecosystem.
AITI Executive Director Jimeh Saleh took part in the workshop “Tech Justice in Practice: Mitigating Bias and Designing for Equitable AI,” under the conference’s Tech Justice track. Moreover, Prof. Demola Lewis led the session, with Dolapo Agbede and Adekemi Omole as speakers.

The panel explored building AI systems that are fair, inclusive, and responsive to diverse communities. It focused on practical ways to reduce bias. Additionally, it aimed to design AI that works for people across diverse backgrounds, languages, and social contexts.
These priorities align with AITI’s commitment to local-language inclusion, digital education and responsible AI adoption, particularly among underserved communities.
For AITI, an inclusive AI future means African communities are not just consumers of technologies. They actively shape how these technologies are developed and used.
